Andreas Raelert
Andreas Raelert (born 11 August 1976) is a German triathlete. His younger brother, Michael Raelert, is also a triathlete. On 10 July 2011, Raelert broke the world record time for an Ironman Triathlon distance race at the Challenge Roth event in Roth, Germany. Finishing in a time of 7 hours, 41 minutes and 33 seconds, he beat Marino Vanhoenacker's record time of 7:45:58 set just a week before. However, since Raelert’s time was not at an official Ironman event, Vanhoenacker’s time remains the fastest at an Ironman-sanctioned event. Raelert competed in the first Olympic triathlon event at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He took twelfth place with a total time of 1:49:31.28. Marino Vanhoenacker
Marino Vanhoenacker (born 19 July 1976 in Ostend) is a Belgian triathlete. On 3 July 2011, he set a world best time for Ironman full distance triathlon at the Ironman Triathlon at Klagenfurt in Austria, finishing after 7 hours, 45 minutes and 58 seconds, beating Luc Van Lierde's 1997 time of 7h50m27s. His time was subsequently beaten by Lionel Sanders at Ironman Arizona in 2016; the current world best time is held by Tim Don in a time of 7 hours, 40 minutes and 23 seconds at Ironman Brazil in May 2017. . Challenge Roth
Challenge Roth is a triathlon race organised by in and around Roth bei Nürnberg, Bavaria, Germany. It is held annually in July. The Ironman distance (140.6 miles / 226.2 kilometers) version of the race has been held since 1990, and the short distance version since 1984. It was part of the Ironman series until 2001. It has been held independently from WTC since 2002. The number of participants is around 3500 individuals and 650 relay teams. Course The first part of the race, the 3.86 km swim event, takes place in the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal around 10 km outside Roth.
