Andreas Malm
Andreas Malm (born ) is a Sweden, Swedish author and an associate professor of human ecology at Lund University. He is on the editorial board of the academic journal ''Historical Materialism (journal), Historical Materialism'', and has been described as a Marxism, Marxist. Naomi Klein, who quoted Malm in her book ''This Changes Everything (book), This Changes Everything'', describes him as "one of the most original thinkers on the subject" of climate change. Career In 2010, Malm joined the Socialistiska partiet, Socialistiska Partiet; he had been in contact with the party since attending a summer camp they ran in 1997. In 2012, Malm defended his thesis (which later became the book ''Fossil Capital'') to obtain a PhD from Lund University. Code Rood (also styled CODE ROOD, Dutch language, Dutch for "Code Red") is a network of Climate activism, climate activists based in the Netherlands. The activists organize large-scale civil disobedience actions in opposition to the fossil fuel industry. Code Rood is Horizontal organization, horizontally organized, and was inspired in part by Ende Gelände 2016, during which protestors shut down a coal mine and a coal-fired power station for a period of two days. The Zetkin Collective
The Zetkin Collective is a research group made up of activists and academics. It focuses on analyzing and explaining the political ecology of the far-right, including ecofascism and Malthusianism as well as climate change denial and eco-nationalism. The group began within the human ecology department of Lund University in Sweden. The collective is named after Clara Zetkin, a German Marxist theorist who studied the Italian fascist movement in 1923. Its work draws on the definition of fascism created by Zetkin. ''How to Blow Up a Pipeline: Learning to Fight in a World on Fire'' is a nonfiction book written by Andreas Malm and published in 2021 by Verso Books. In the book, Malm argues that sabotage is a logical form of climate activism, and criticizes both pacifism within the climate movement and "climate fatalism" outside it. The book was later adapted into a film of the same name. Andreas Malm, a lecturer in human ecology at Lund University, wrote several other books on related subjects before his release of ''How to Blow Up a Pipeline''. Prior to events in 2018 and 2019 including Fridays For Future and climate protest camps in Europe, the book was planned to be an argument that there was a lack of climate activism. Diversity of tactics is a phenomenon wherein a social movement makes periodic use of force for disruptive or Self-defense, defensive purposes, stepping beyond the limits of nonviolent resistance, but also stopping short of total militarization. It also refers to the theory which asserts this to be the most effective strategy of civil disobedience for social change. Diversity of tactics may promote civil resistance, nonviolent tactics, or armed resistance, or a range of methods in between, depending on the level of repression the political movement is facing.
