Andreas Kyburz
Andreas Kyburz (born 1988) is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He was born in Rheinfelden. He won a bronze medal in the sprint at the 2018 World Orienteering Championships in Latvia, behind Daniel Hubmann and Tim Robertson. At the 2016 European Orienteering Championships he won a bronze medal in the sprint relay with the Swiss team. World Orienteering Championships
The World Orienteering Championships (or WOC for short) is an annual orienteering event organized by the International Orienteering Federation. The first World Championships was held in Fiskars, Finland in 1966. They were held biennially up to 2003 (with the exception of 1978 and 1979). Since 2003, competitions have been held annually. Participating nations have to be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). Originally, there were only two competitions: an individual race and a relay. In 1991, a short distance race (roughly 20–25 minutes) was added and a sprint race was added in 2001. The middle distance (roughly 30–35 minutes) replaced the short distance in 2003. European Orienteering Championships
The European Orienteering Championships were first held in 1962. They have been held biennially since 2000. From 2020, the European Orienteering Championships will be held annually, with sprint events and forest events in alternate years. Format The competition format has changed several times. From the beginning in 1962, the World Championships consisted of only two competitions: an individual race and an unofficial relay. The relay event was an official event for the first time in the 1964 European Championships. EOC was not arranged from 1964 to 2000. In 2000, a sprint race (roughly 12–15 minutes winning time). Daniel Hubmann (born 16 April 1983 in Eschlikon, Thurgau) is a Swiss orienteering competitor, world champion in all three individual disciplines and multiple winner of the overall Orienteering World Cup. He is the brother of Martin Hubmann. Daniel also has his own fan club which is run by New Zealand Orienteer Joseph Lynch. Tim Robertson (born 5 August 1995) is a New Zealand orienteering competitor. He won the gold medal in the sprint course at the Junior World Orienteering Championships in 2014, and 2015. Robertson was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He has competed at the New Zealand Orienteering Championships, receiving many silver, gold, and bronze medals. Junior World Orienteering Championships Robertson competed at the Junior World Orienteering Championships for the first time in 2011. He placed 78 in the sprint, and a 93 place in the long. Matthias Kyburz
Matthias Kyburz (born 5 March 1990) is a Swiss orienteering competitor, junior world champion, European champion and multiple world champion. On 16 April 2020, Kyburz attained the world record in quickest time reaching 50km on a treadmill, in a time of 2:56:35, breaking the record held by Florian Neuschwander. Career He won the sprint distance at the 2012 World Orienteering Championships in Lausanne, ahead of Matthias Merz and Matthias Müller, his first international victory.
