Andrea Sisson is a Fulbright fellowship recipient and film director. Personal life Andrea Sisson's hometown is Cleves, Ohio. 2013, Sisson was married to fellow filmmaker Pete Ohs—whom she met at a suburban Cincinnati water park—and living in Los Angeles. In summer 2021, Sisson was pursuing a Master of Fine Arts from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College. Career After receiving a Fulbright fellowship, Sisson traveled to Iceland to direct and narrate her experimental 70-minute documentary film about mental illness, '' I Send You This Place''. The work was a 2012 official selection at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and Reykjavík International Film Festival, and was commercially released in summer 2013. The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is an annual international event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of non-fiction cinema. The festival is a program of the Center for Documentary Studies, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) at Duke University. The Independent Spirit Awards (abbreviated Spirit Awards and originally known as the FINDIE or Friends of Independents Awards), founded in 1984, are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers. Winners were typically presented with acrylic glass pyramids containing suspended shoestrings representing the bare budgets of independent films. Since 2006, winners have received a metal trophy depicting a bird with its wings spread sitting atop of a pole with the shoestrings from the previous design wrapped around the pole. The LA Film Festival was an annual film festival that was held in Los Angeles, California, and usually took place in June.
