Andrea Pavan
Andrea Pavan (born 27 April 1989) is an Italian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He has won twice on the tour, the 2018 D+D Real Czech Masters and the 2019 BMW International Open. Amateur career Pavan won the Italian Amateur Strokeplay Championship in 2005 at the age of 16, and subsequently opted to join the collegiate circuit in the USA. He spent four years studying at Texas A&M enjoying a successful career on the golf team, including winning a collegiate event in 2010 and being part of the team which won the 2009 NCAA Men's Golf Championship. He also enjoyed success in Europe, winning further events in his home country and finishing runner-up in the prestigious European Amateur. Professional career Pavan turned professional in 2010. Qualifying School
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom. Masters Tournament
The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States. The Masters was started by amateur champion Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. After his grand slam in 1930, Jones acquired the former plant nursery and co-designed Augusta National with course architect Alister MacKenzie. Robert Dinwiddie (golfer)
Robert Maitland Dinwiddie (born 29 December 1982) is an English professional golfer. Early years Dinwiddie was born in Dumfries, Scotland. He was assisted by College Prospects of America to gain a golf scholarship at Tennessee State University, and was the number one ranked English golfer. Dinwiddie won Welsh and Scottish Amateur Open Stroke Play Championships in 2005, and when he also claimed the English Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship, otherwise known as the Brabazon Trophy, in 2006, he became the first person to hold all three titles at the same time. Professional career Dinwiddie turned professional towards the end of 2006 and joined the Challenge Tour. He had an immediate impact, finishing tied 11th in just his second tournament. Rhys Davies (born 28 May 1985) is a Welsh professional golfer. Davies was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, but has lived in Wales for the majority of his life. He played collegiate golf in the United States at East Tennessee State University where he won ten times and was a first team All-American in 2005, 2006, and 2007. He played on two Walker Cup teams (2005 and 2007), and for Europe in four Palmer Cup teams (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007). Davies was second in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (May 2007), before turning pro in September 2007. Marco Crespi
Marco Crespi (born 5 November 1978) is an Italian professional golfer. Career Crespi was born in Monza, Italy. He turned professional in 2002. Crespi played on the Challenge Tour in 2006–09 and 2012–13. He was invited to the 2012 Telenet Trophy which he won to earn full membership of the Challenge Tour. He subsequently won the 2013 Mugello Tuscany Open. Crespi earned his 2014 European Tour card via qualifying school on his 11th attempt. He also earned his first European Tour win at the NH Collection Open and is the oldest rookie to win in European Tour history. By 2016, Crespi lost his European Tour card and was playing on the third tier Alps Tour, where he won in 2017. The 2011 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. 2019 European Tour
The 2019 European Tour was the 48th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972 and the 11th edition of the Race to Dubai. The Race to Dubai was won by Spain's Jon Rahm, who was also named Golfer of the Year. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre was the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. Changes for 2019 Rule changes From January 1, 2019 onwards, tournaments followed the new rules released by the USGA and The R&A which were designed to simplify the rule book and speed up the pace of play.
