Andrea Nield
Andrea Nield (born 1951) is an Australian architect who founded and was elected the first president of Emergency Architects Australia. Nield has directed major relief and reconstruction work in Aceh, Indonesia, the Solomon Islands and Victoria, Australia after natural disasters. She and her husband Lawrence Nield are directors of Studio Nield – an Architecture and Urban Design practice. Nield has designed hospitals in Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Australia and is a joint author of "Beyond Shelter – Architecture for Crisis" and "Beyond Shelter – Architecture and Human Dignity". She was the Australian Institute of Architects (NT) Creative Director for AusIndoArch Tropfix Student Design Workshop held in June 2014 and the AusIndoArch Conference in Darwin November 2014, Australia. The Emergency Architects Foundation is a French non-governmental organization, '' reconnue d'utilité publique''. It is organised as a not-for-profit foundation with the French Order of Architects as supporters and is accredited by the United Nations and the European Union. Narbethong, Victoria
Narbethong is a town in central Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Maroondah Highway, north east of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2016 Australian census, 2016 census, Narbethong and the surrounding area had a population of 205. History The first European settlement at Narbethong was established in about 1865 by Frederick Fisher. Fisher built a 12-room hotel, the ''Black Spur Inn'', on the road which was being built to link Melbourne with the new goldfield at Woods Point, Victoria, Woods Point. Fisher came from the town of Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Narberth in Wales, so it is likely that the name Narbethong was based on that. The Queen Mary Hospital, located in Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong, is the public district general hospital and teaching hospital of the Faculty of Dentistry and Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong. Hong Kong Children's Hospital () is the first children hospital in Hong Kong's public healthcare system, located in Kowloon City, Hong Kong. Black Saturday Bushfires
The Black Saturday bushfires were a series of bushfires that either ignited or were already burning across the Australian state of Victoria on and around Saturday, 7 February 2009, and were among Australia's all-time worst bushfire disasters. The fires occurred during extreme bushfire weather conditions and resulted in Australia's highest-ever loss of human life from a bushfire, with 173 fatalities. Lawrence Nield
Professor Lawrence Nield is a retired Australian architect, who since 2012 has been head of the NSW State Heritage Register, Heritage Council of New South Wales. He is also known for his writings on urban design. He was head of master planning for the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. He was one of the founders of BVN Architecture (formerly Bligh Voller Nield). In March 2013 Nield was appointed the Northern Territory Government Architect.
