''Andrea Chénier'', also spelled ''Andrea Chenier'', is a 1955 French-Italian historical musical melodrama film directed by Clemente Fracassi and starring Antonella Lualdi, Raf Vallone and Michel Auclair. It is loosely based on the eponymous 1896 opera by Umberto Giordano about the eighteenth century poet André Chénier. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Flavio Mogherini and Franco Zeffirelli. It was shot using technicolor and vistavision. Fernando Cicero, better known as Nando Cicero (22 January 1931 – 30 July 1995), was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor. Born in Asmara, Cicero debuted as an actor, working with directors such as Luchino Visconti ('' Senso'', 1953), Roberto Rossellini (''Vanina Vanini'', 1961), Francesco Rosi ( ''Salvatore Giuliano'', 1962) and Alberto Lattuada (''La steppa'', 1962). Charles Fernley Fawcett (2 December 1915 – 3 February 2008) was an American adventurer, soldier, film actor, and a co-founder of the International Medical Corps. He was a recipient of the French Croix de Guerre and the American Eisenhower medal, and was declared Righteous Among the Nations for his assistance in rescuing and safeguarding Jewish refugees during World War II. Marco Guglielmi (6 October 1926 – 28 December 2005) was an Italian actor, screenwriter and author. Life and career Born Augusto Guglielmi in Sanremo, he graduated from ragioneria, then he enrolled at the university in the faculty of economics and business, though without finishing his studies. Guglielmi later attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, graduating in 1953, despite having participated in 1951–52 in a few films in minor roles. Piero Carnabuci
Piero Carnabuci (6 September 1893 – 13 February 1958) was an Italian stage and film actor. Life and career Born in Santa Teresa di Riva, Messina, after the World War I Carnabuci decided to abandon his engineering studies at the University of Catania to pursue an acting career. He made his stage debut in 1920, with the company held by Luigi Chiarini and Olga Vittoria Gentilli, and almost immediately he became one of the most requested young actors in the Italian theatre of the time. Notably, between 1926 and 1928 he was first actor in the stage company of Luigi Pirandello, and between 1928 and 1929 he was first actor in the company of Sem Benelli. Carnabuci was also active in films, even if mainly cast in supporting roles. He died of coronary thrombosis in his house in Milan, aged 64, a few weeks after being struck by a severe bronchopneumonia. Sergio Tòfano (20 August 1886 – 28 October 1973) was an Italian actor, theatre director, director, playwright, scene designer and illustrator. Tofano was born in Rome. In 1909, he made his first appearance on stage with Ermete Novelli, then joined Virgilio Talli's company (1913–23). He soon specialized as a comic actor, giving his role a new elegance and complexity.
