Andoni Island
Andoni Island is regarded as the most endemic island in Nigeria. Located at eastern fringe of the oil-rich Niger Delta in Rivers State, it is a picturesque barrier island carefully crafted by nature in resemblance of the shape of a Shark . The island measures about is known for housing the endangered African forest elephant (''Loxodonta cyclotis''), pygmy hippopotamus and many other mammals. Andoni island, perhaps the only island in Nigeria where forest elephant is found, is also a nesting ground for different species of sea turtles. Niger Delta
The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria. Shark
Sharks are a group of elasmobranch fish characterized by a cartilaginous skeleton, five to seven gill slits on the sides of the head, and pectoral fins that are not fused to the head. African Forest Elephant
The African forest elephant (''Loxodonta cyclotis'') is one of the two living African elephant species. It is native to humid forests in West Africa and the Congo Basin. It is the smallest of the three living elephant species, reaching a shoulder height of . Both sexes have straight, down-pointing tusks, which erupt when they are 1–3 years old. Pygmy Hippopotamus
The pygmy hippopotamus or pygmy hippo (''Choeropsis liberiensis'') is a small hippopotamid which is native to the forests and swamps of West Africa, primarily in Liberia, with small populations in Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Ivory Coast. It has been extirpated from Nigeria. The pygmy hippo is reclusive and nocturnal.
