Andmoresound
Andmoresound was an independent record label based in Glasgow, Scotland, managed and operated by musician and businessman, Lindsay Boyd. It was named in homage to the song " Andmoreagain" by the band Love. Andmoresound was responsible for launching several Scottish indie pop and indie rock bands, including Tacoma Radar and Boyd's own group Mac Meda. The label's most notable signing was another band in which Boyd occasionally played, indie pop group Camera Obscura, a band who would find greater success on the Elefant Records and Merge Records labels. Mac Meda's debut single, "My Favourite Trashcan" claimed ''NME'' 's 'Single of the Week' title on its release. Camera Obscura is a Scottish indie pop band from Glasgow. The group formed in 1996, and have released five albums to date – the most recent of which, ''Desire Lines'', was released in 2013. The current members of the band are vocalist Tracyanne Campbell, guitarist Kenny McKeeve, bassist Gavin Dunbar, and drummer Lee Thomson. The band undertook an extended hiatus in 2015, following the death of long-serving keyboardist Carey Lander. The surviving members later reconvened in 2018. The band's bright take on indie pop has been frequently described as "twee pop," and garnered comparisons to fellow Scottish band Belle & Sebastian. The band have also been praised for their "honest, wide, and adult approach to heartbreak, romantic liaisons, and escapism." Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. Andmoreagain
"Andmoreagain" is a song written by Arthur Lee and performed by Love. It was first released on their 1967 album ''Forever Changes''. The song was always a part of Lee's concert repertoire, even after disbanding Love. Composition "Andmoreagain" is considered to be a reminiscent of the work of Burt Bacharach, as well as Neil Young's composition "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing." It has a folksy melody and contains major-7th chords. The lyrics consist of free association on Lee's defense mechanisms. Lee has stated that the song is about addiction and sensual temptations. The song is heavily orchestrated with string instrumentation. Lee sings in a crooning voice that has been compared to Johnny Mathis. As on "The Daily Planet," Lee is the only band member to appear. Love (band)
Love is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965. Led by frontman and primary songwriter Arthur Lee, they were one of the first racially diverse American rock bands. Their sound incorporated an eclectic range of styles including garage, folk-rock, blues, jazz, and psychedelia. While finding only modest success on the music charts, peaking in 1966 with their Top 40 hit "7 and 7 Is", Love would come to be praised by critics as their third album, ''Forever Changes'' (1967), became generally regarded as one of the best albums of the 1960s. The band's classic lineup is considered to consist of frontman Lee, guitarist/singer Bryan MacLean, bassist Ken Forssi, guitarist Johnny Echols, and drummer Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer.
