Andi Gladwin
Andi Gladwin (May 10, 1983) is a British magician, speaker, and publisher. He has appeared on television (ITV's The Next Great Magician, Next Great Magician, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, The Big Breakfast, Lance Burton's Young Magician Showcase, Masters of Illusion, and more), has lectured for magicians throughout the UK, US, and Europe and written/published books on magic. Gladwin is a Member of the Inner The Magic Circle (organisation), Magic Circle with Gold Star and was granted the Maskelyne Literary Award from the prestigious club. Biography Gladwin was born and raised in Newent, Gloucestershire. When he was 10, he saw a number of stage illusionists while on holiday. His interest in magic blossomed and he began to perform regularly from age 15. After working in IT for almost ten years, he became a professional close-up magician in January 2010. Newent
Newent (; originally called "Noent") is a market town and civil parish about 10½ miles (17 km) north-west of Gloucester, England. Its population was 5,073 at the 2001 census, rising to 5,207 in 2011, The population was 6,777 at the 2021 Census. Once a medieval market and fair town, its site had been settled at least since Roman times. The first written record of it appears in the 1086 Domesday Book. Etymology Noent, Newent's original name, may have meant "new place" in Celtic. It also may mean "new inn", referring to lodgings for travellers to Wales, according to John Leland (c. 1503–1552), who mentioned a house called ''New Inn'', later named ''The Boothall'', which provided lodging along the road to Wales. Double Lift
A double lift is a sleight of hand maneuver used by magicians in card magic. It is a method by which the identity of the top card may be kept secret by lifting the top two cards as one, making it seem as if only the top card is picked up. Similar techniques may be applied to more than two cards to perform a triple or even quadruple lift. The term was coined by Theo Annemann. When the card is shown to the audience, the audience is tricked into believing that they are shown the top card in the deck where in fact they are shown the second card. When the cards are displayed, the maneuver is sometimes called the "double turnover". Some versions of the ambitious card routine rely almost entirely upon this sleight. In combination with a few other mechanics and good showmanship, entire acts can and have been made out of this single move. Masters Of Illusion (TV Series)
''Masters of Illusion'' is an American television magic show broadcast on Pax TV from 2000 to 2001, which was performed on the grand stage at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. The show was later revived in 2009 and broadcast on MyNetworkTV. In 2012, the show was presented as four different specials and run in syndication. The show derives its name from the profession's term Master of Illusion. The series has been revived by The CW with new episodes in 2014, featuring new performers and hosted by Dean Cain. The show has run for seven seasons on the network as of 2020, and has been renewed for an eleventh total. The eleventh season premiered on April 9, 2022. Lance Burton
William Lance Burton (born March 10, 1960) is an American stage magician. He performed more than 15,000 shows in Las Vegas for over 5,000,000 people until retiring after 31 years in 2010. Professional history Burton first became interested in magic at the age of 5, when he was one of the volunteers at a magic show of Magician Harry Collins. The trick was The Miser's Dream, where Collins "pulled silver dollars out of the sky" and Burton's ears. The young Burton was fascinated, and a neighbor, hearing of his interest, gave him a book, ''Magic Made Easy'', which her own (then-grown) children had used. It contained ten tricks, all of which young Burton quickly learned. His first performances were for neighborhood children, charging them a nickel each. Collins, a full-time magician, noticed the interest, and became his mentor when Burton was in his teens, teaching him the fundamentals of the trade. Kaufman and owned by Randy Pitchford. The magazine is based in Washington, DC.
