Andelfingen is a village and a municipality in the district of Andelfingen in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. On 1 January 2023 the former municipalities of Adlikon and Humlikon merged to form the municipality of Andelfingen. History Andelfingen is first mentioned in 1248 as ''Andelfingon''. Until 1970, it was known as ''Grossandelfingen''. Geography Andelfingen has an area of . Of this area, 47.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 34.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 14.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (4.3%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). The Rheinfall Railway (german: Rheinfallbahn) is a railway line in Switzerland. The line links Winterthur in the canton of Zurich with Schaffhausen in the canton of Schaffhausen. The Rheinfall Railway was constructed by the independent ''Rheinfallbahn-Gesellschaft''. Towards its northern end, the Rheinfall Railway crosses the Rhine on a viaduct adjacent to the famous Rhine Falls, from which it takes its name. The S12 is a regional railway line of the S-Bahn Zürich on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network. The S12 is one of the network's lines connecting the cantons of Zürich, Aargau, Schaffhausen, Thurgau and St. Gallen. Route * Line S12 commences at Brugg station, in the canton of Aargau, and follows the Zürich–Baden railway as far as Zürich Hardbrücke station and the approaches to Zürich Hauptbahnhof station. Passing through the lower level platforms at this station, the line then passes through the Hirschengraben and Zürichberg tunnels, and Stettbach station, before joining the Zürich to Winterthur line. The S24 is a regional railway line of the Zürich S-Bahn of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network. The line was significantly extended in June 2014, and again in December 2015, and has subsumed the S21 (originally S1) line previously providing service in parts of its extended route.
