Anca Margareta Heltne, née Vîlceanu (born 1 January 1978 in Câmpulung) is a Romanian shot putter. She has an indoor personal best of , achieved in February 2010 in Bucharest. She represented her country at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She finished seventh at the 2005 Summer Universiade. She also competed at the 2007 World Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the final round. She then finished eighth at the 2008 World Athletics Final and 2009 World Athletics Final, where the top eight athletes in the world are invited. She won the bronze medal at the 2009 European Indoor Championships. and the silver medal at the 2009 European Cup Winter Throwing. She won the shot put gold medal at the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie. 2012 European Athletics Championships
The 2012 European Athletics Championships were held in Helsinki, Finland between 27 June and 1 July 2012. This edition marks the beginning of a new two-year cycle of the European Athletics Championships which were previously held every four years. The decision to grant the games for Helsinki was made by the European Athletics Congress on 9 November 2009. Another city that showed interest in hosting the event was Nuremberg, Germany, however Helsinki was in pole position during the whole process. This was the third time that the city had hosted the event, 1971 and 1994 being the other occasions. Decathlete
The decathlon is a combined event in athletics consisting of ten track and field events. The word "decathlon" was formed, in analogy to the word "pentathlon", from Greek δέκα (''déka'', meaning "ten") and ἄθλος (''áthlos'', or ἄθλον, ''áthlon'', meaning "contest" or “prize”). Events are held over two consecutive days and the winners are determined by the combined performance in all. Performance is judged on a points system in each event, not by the position achieved. The decathlon is contested mainly by male athletes, while female athletes typically compete in the heptathlon. Traditionally, the title of "World's Greatest Athlete" has been given to the person who wins the decathlon. This began when Gustav V of Sweden told Jim Thorpe, "Sir, you are the world's greatest athlete" after Thorpe won the decathlon at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912. Sergiu Ursu (born April 26, 1980) is a Romanian discus thrower. Originally from the Republic of Moldova, he transferred to compete for Romania from 2003 onwards. 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the fifteenth edition of the international indoor track and field competition, organised by the IAAF. The event was held between 7–9 March 2014 at the Ergo Arena in Sopot, Poland. Preparation Host bidding The IAAF announced on 1 September 2011 that it had received bids from Poland and Croatia to host the championships. Later Zagreb, Croatia withdrew due to lack of funding. On 11 November 2011 at a Council meeting in Monaco, the IAAF announced that Sopot, as the only remaining bidder, would host the championships. The IAAF World Challenge was an annual, global circuit of one-day track and field competitions organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
