In the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game, an adventure or module is a guide for managing player knowledge and activities within a specific scenario. Commercially, a published adventure comes as a pre-packaged book or box set that is used exclusively by the Dungeon Master. It typically contains background information for the plot or story, maps, vignettes of interesting locations, site inventories, creature descriptions and statistics, player visual aids, and suggested rules for evaluating events and likely player actions. The term ''adventure'' is currently used by the game's publisher Wizards of the Coast. In early editions of the game these publications were commonly referred to as ''modules'', which stems from the term ''dungeon module'', used to refer to the earliest adventures published by TSR, with other variations on the module name appearing on latter adventures. George MacDonald is a game designer who has worked primarily on role-playing games and in the computer game industry. Career George MacDonald started work on role-playing games while at college, by adding more detailed super powers to Gamescience's '' Superhero: 2044'' RPG (1977) and ultimately creating his own original system which Steve Peterson typed up, and which eventually became the superhero RPG, ''Champions'' (1981). MacDonald and Peterson had only enough money to print 1,500 copies of the game and hand-collated the pages, and they sold their new game at Pacific Origins 1981; they were surprised to see it sell very well, selling 1,000 of their 1,500 copies at the convention. James M. Ward (born May 23, 1951) is an American game designer and fantasy author who worked for TSR, Inc. for more than 20 years. Career ''Dungeons & Dragons'' and TSR Ward was one of the players in Gary Gygax's early Greyhawk games as Gygax developed the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' game. David "Zeb" Cook is an American game designer, best known for his work at TSR, Inc., where he was employed for over fifteen years. Cook designed several games, wrote the '' Expert Set'' for ''Dungeons & Dragons'', worked as lead designer of the second edition of ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'', and invented the Planescape setting for ''AD&D''.
