Anatoly Cherepovich
Anatoly Cherepovich ( uk, Анатолій Черепович; 30 July 1936 – 2 August 1970) was a Soviet Ukrainian cyclist. He competed in the road race at the 1956 Summer Olympics and finished in 15th place individually and in sixth place with the Soviet team. He won the 1955 national road title and became second in 1961. He competed in the 1961 and 1962 World Championships, finishing in 27th place individually and fourth in the team competition in 1962. He rode the Peace Race in 1957, 1959 and 1961–64, winning at least one stage in 1957, 1961, 1962 and 1963. In the overall standing, in 1961 he finished fourth individually and first with the Soviet team; in 1963 he was fifth individually. He retired around 1964 to coach the national team. He was killed on 2 August 1970 in a car accident. Simferopol
Simferopol () is the second-largest city in the Crimea, Crimean Peninsula. The city, along with the rest of Crimea, is internationally recognised as part of Ukraine, and is considered the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time. Where a TTT is part of a stage race, it is necessary for each rider to be given a finish time that can be cumulated into the general classification timings. The UCI Road World Championships – Men's team time trial was a world championship for road bicycle racing in the discipline of team time trial (TTT). Peace Race
The Peace Race (german: Friedensfahrt, cs, Závod míru, sk, Preteky mieru, russian: Велогонка Мира (), pl, Wyścig Pokoju , french: Course de la Paix, it, Corsa della Pace, ro, Cursa Păcii) was an annual multiple stage bicycle race held in the Eastern Bloc states of Czechoslovakia, East Germany, and Poland. First organized in 1948, it was originally created with the intent of relieving tensions existing between Central European countries following the interwar period and World War II.
