Anatoly Avdievsky
Anatoly Avdievsky (ukr. Авдієвський Анатолій Тимофійович, August 16, 1933 – March 24, 2016) was a Ukrainian choir conductor mostly known as the long-term manager of The Veryovka Ukrainian Folk Choir. Biography Anatoly Avdievsky was born in the village of Fedvar, Kirovohrad Oblast (now called Pidlisne). In 1940-1948 he studied at a secondary school in Tsebrykovo. From 1948 to 1953, he was a student at the Odesa State Music School, and from 1953 to 1958 he studied at the Odesa Conservatory Odesa National Music Academy named after AV Nezhdanova ( uk, Одеська національна музична академія імені А. People's Artist Of Ukraine
People's Artist of Ukraine is an honorary and the highest title awarding to outstanding performing artists whose merits are exceptional in the sphere of the development of the performing arts (theatre, music, dance, circus, cinema, etc.). Established in 1922 during Soviet times, it was technically called People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (Народний артист УРСР). With the establishment of independent Ukraine, this tradition was kept and the title was renamed as People's Artist of Ukraine (Народний артист України). Its recipients include many of the most highly acclaimed composers, dancers, singers, musicians, film and theatre directors, actors, circus performers, etc. During Soviet times, a person was usually named People's Artist only after reaching the age of 40. The Veryovka Ukrainian Folk Choir
The Veryovka Ukrainian Folk Choir (Національний заслужений академічний український народний хор України імені Григорія Верьовки) is a professional Ukrainian ensemble founded in 1943. The choir was founded in 1943 in Kharkiv to promote and spread Ukrainian folk music and dance traditions. The initiator and the first leader of the choir was Hryhoriy Veryovka, researcher and choir conductor. The choir represented Ukrainian art in the cities of the USSR, Romania (1952, 1956), Poland (1953), Finland (1954), Belgium and Luxembourg (1958), Germany (1959), Yugoslavia (1962) and other countries. In honor of its founder, the choir was named after him in 1965. In the same year, the team was headed by Anatoly Avdievsky.
