Anat Bremler-Barr
Anat Bremler-Barr (Hebrew: ענת ברמלר-בר), is an Israeli computer scientist. She is a professor at Tel Aviv University who is known for her contributions in network security, specifically in Denial of Service attacks and scalable protection of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Education and career Bremler-Barr holds B.Sc. degrees in mathematics and computer science (1994), an LL.B degree in law (1999), and M.Sc (1997), and Ph.D degree in computer science (2002), all from Tel Aviv University. In 2001, Bremler-Barr co-founded Riverhead Networks, a company that developed an innovative system for the mitigation of Denial of Service attacks, where she served as a chief scientist. Riverhead was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2004. She joined Reichman University in 2003, and was promoted to professor in 2020 and, from 2019 until 2021 she served as the deputy dean of the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science. Denial-of-service Attack
In computing, a denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) is a cyber-attack in which the perpetrator seeks to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users by temporarily or indefinitely disrupting services of a host connected to a network. Denial of service is typically accomplished by flooding the targeted machine or resource with superfluous requests in an attempt to overload systems and prevent some or all legitimate requests from being fulfilled. In a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack), the incoming traffic flooding the victim originates from many different sources. More sophisticated strategies are required to mitigate this type of attack, as simply attempting to block a single source is insufficient because there are multiple sources.
