Anastasia Screamed was an American alternative rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1987. The band split up in 1992 after releasing two albums, with singer Chick Graning forming Scarce. History The band was formed in 1987 by drummer Chris Burdett and guitarist Christopher Cugini, the band initially completed by bassist Scott Lerner and singer Andy Jagolinzer.Strong, Martin C. Scarce (band)
Scarce is an American alternative rock band formed in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. They were active from 1993 to 1997, and reformed in 2008. Biography Chick Graning moved to Providence, Rhode Island after his previous band Anastasia Screamed ended. Scarce was formed with Graning, Joyce Raskin and Jud Ehrbar in 1993. By 1995, Mike Levesque had replaced Ehrbar on drums. The band record and released the UK version of debut album ''DeadSexy''. The band toured with Hole and were growing in popularity. Joseph Propatier replaced Levesque on drums in June. Unfortunately, tragedy struck that month with Graning suffering a brain aneurysm. When he failed to show up for band practice Raskin and Propatier found him unconscious in his flat. Doctors gave Graning a ten percent chance of survival. Throwing Muses
Throwing Muses are an American alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Newport, Rhode Island, United States, that toured and recorded extensively until 1997, when its members began concentrating more on other projects. The group was originally fronted by two stepsisters, Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly, who both wrote the group's songs. Throwing Muses are known for performing music with shifting tempos, creative chord progressions, unorthodox song structures, and surreal lyrics. The group was set apart from other contemporary acts by Hersh's stark, candid writing style; Donelly's pop stylings and vocal harmonies; and David Narcizo's unusual drumming techniques eschewing use of cymbals. ''Select'' was a United Kingdom music magazine of the 1990s. It was known for covering indie rock, but featured a wide array of music. Launched in July 1990, its first cover star was Prince. After EMAP Metro bought ''Select'', they revamped its image, and it became known for its coverage of Britpop, a term coined in the magazine by Stuart Maconie. Its 1993 "Yanks Go Home" edition, featuring The Auteurs, Denim, Saint Etienne, Pulp and Suede's Brett Anderson on the cover in front of a Union Flag, was an important impetus in defining the movement's opposition to American genres such as grunge. Later, John Harris stepped down as editor, and was replaced by former ''Mixmag'' editor Alexis Petridis. Under Petridis, the magazine's image moved back towards its coverage on an eclectic array of music, aiming to reach what Petridis described as "a wide range of music fans". The Long Ryders
The Long Ryders are an American alternative country and Paisley Underground band, principally active between 1982 and 1987, who have periodically regrouped for brief reunions (2004, 2009, 2014, 2016). In 2019 they released a new studio album – their first in 32 years – and announced a series of tour dates to follow. The Long Ryders were originally formed by several American musicians who were each multi-instrumentalists and influenced by Gram Parsons, the Byrds, country music and various punk rock groups. They were named after the Walter Hill film, ''the Long Riders''.
