Anare Jale
Anare Jale (born 1949 / 1950) is a Fijian civil servant, diplomat, and politician. He is a former member of the Parliament of Fiji, and vice-president of the Social Democratic Liberal Party. Jale was educated at Onolevu District School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, and Suva Grammar School, before studying at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He joined the Fijian civil service as a labour inspector, and worked for the Ministry of labour for 25 years before becoming deputy secretary for regional development in 1995. From 1997 to 1999 he was permanent secretary for labour and industrial relations, and from 1999 to 2000 he was secretary for the public service. In 2001 he was appointed Fijian Ambassador to the United States. Social Democratic Liberal Party
The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) is a Fijian political party. The party was formed in January 2013 after the dissolution of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua. The party currently has no party leader. History Party foundation In January 2013 Fiji's military regime promulgated new regulations governing the registration of political parties. Among the new provisions was a requirement that all political parties be named in English rather than Fijian. In order to retain the same acronym, the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) reformed as the Social Democratic Liberal Party in order to retain the 'SDL' acronym. However, a subsequent amendment to the Political Parties Decree banned the use of the acronyms of former parties, forcing the party to change its acronym to 'SODELPA'. The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), also known as Operation Helpem Fren, Operation Anode and Operation Rata (by New Zealand), was created in 2003 in response to a request for international aid by the Governor-General of Solomon Islands. Fijians ( fj, iTaukei, lit=Owners (of the land)) are a nation and ethnic group native to Fiji, who speak Fijian and share a common history and culture. Fijians, or ''iTaukei'', are the major indigenous people of the Fiji Islands, and live in an area informally called Melanesia. Indigenous Fijians are believed to have arrived in Fiji from western Melanesia approximately 3,500 years ago, though the exact origins of the Fijian people are unknown. Later they would move onward to other surrounding islands, including Rotuma, as well as blending with other (Polynesian) settlers on Tonga and Samoa. Jesoni Vitusagavulu is a Fijian businessman and diplomat, who was appointed as Fiji's fifth Fijian Ambassador to the United States on 26 May 2005, succeeding Anare Jale.
