Anantray Devshanker Dave
Anantray Devshanker Dave (27 May 1938 – 7 October 2012) was an Indian politician from the state of Gujarat, who represented Kutch constituency in the 6th Lok Sabha and was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1990 to 2002. Born in Mandvi, he served as a member of the Mandvi Municipality and chairman of Sardar Patel Jal Sanchay Nigam. Personal life Dave was born to Devshanker and Kashiben on 27 May 1938 in Mandvi, Kutch district. He completed his study of law from Gujarat University. He served as a lecturer in Sheth S.V.College. He married Indira Anant Dave on 11 December 1968. He has one son named Devang Dave and two daughters named Nehal Dave and Hetal Dave. Political career Dave started his political career in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He served as a member of the Mandvi municipality for two terms. Mandvi
Mandvi is a Beach town with municipality in the Kutch district in the States and territories of India, Indian state of Gujarat. It was once a major port of the region and summer retreat for Maharao (king) of the Cutch State. The old city was enclosed in the fort wall and remains of the fort wall can still be seen. The Emergency (India)
The Emergency in India was a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had a state of emergency declared across the country. Officially issued by President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed under Article 352 of the Constitution because of prevailing "internal disturbance", the Emergency was in effect from 25 June 1975 to its withdrawal on 21 March 1977. The order bestowed upon the Prime Minister the authority to rule by decree, allowing elections to be cancelled and civil liberties to be suspended. For much of the Emergency, most of Gandhi's political opponents were imprisoned and the press was censored. Several other human rights violations were reported from the time, including a mass campaign for vasectomy spearheaded by her son Sanjay Gandhi. The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Gujarat elects 11 seats and they are indirectly elected by the state legislators of Gujarat. Earlier since 1952, Bombay State elects 17 seats, Saurashtra State elects 4 seats and Kutch State elects 1 seat. After Constitution (Seventh Amendment) Act of 1956, Bombay State elects 27 seats. After Bombay Reorganisation Act of 1960, three seats were increased and effective from 1 May 1960, the new Gujarat State elects 11 seats while new Maharshtra State elects 19 seats. Keshubhai Patel
Keshubhai Patel (24 July 192829 October 2020) was an Indian politician who was the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 1995 and from 1998 to 2001. He was a six-time member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He was a member of RSS since 1940s, of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1960s, Janata Party in 1970s, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 1980. He subsequently left the BJP in 2012 and formed the Gujarat Parivartan Party. He was elected from Visavadar in the 2012 state assembly election but later resigned in 2014 due to ill health and merged his party with BJP. He was awarded India's third highest civilian award the Padma Bhushan posthumously in 2021.
