Anam (town)
Anam Community is a mega community of eight villages located in Anambra West Local Government Area, Anambra State, bounded by three Historic Rivers, River Anambra (Ọmambala), River Niger and River Ezichi. The Anambra River has its root from Ojor in Uzouwani Local Gov. of Enugu state. Umuoba Anam is the only village in Anam located in Anambra East Local Government Area. Pounded Yam
Pounded yam or Iyán (Yoruba) is a Nigerian swallow food native to the Yoruba, Igbo, Ebira and Tiv ethnic groups. It is a traditional food. It is prepared by pounding boiled yam with a mortar and pestle. Pounded yam is similar to mashed potatoes but heavier. It is a smooth and tasty delicacy traditionally eaten with the hands. Although there is a alternative for Pounded Yam which is called Poundo Yam, the Pounded Yam still remains to be the favorite of most Nigerians. Mmiata Anam is one of the towns in Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria. Mmiata is the largest town in Anambra West, and has an estimated population of 98,000. Location It is bordered by Aboegbu and Umueze Anam to the south, Ezichi River to the east across which lies such towns such as Iyiora and Umuoba III, Inoma-Akator and Nzam in the western flank.
