Analog Worms Attack
''Analog Worms Attack'' is the debut studio album by French musician Mr. Oizo, released on 11 October 1999 through F Communications. The album is mostly instrumental and minimal, taking cues from French house and early American Hip hop music, hip hop. All music was composed on mainly analogue synthesisers and equipment, most notably the Korg MS-20 analog synth, as opposed to later works that would rely upon digital equipment and techniques. Background The album received generally favourable reviews on release, and has become an influence in the electronic genre. Allmusic reviewer John Bush described the album as "a left-field treat for both pop-culture seekers and genuine music fans". Indeep
Indeep was a 1980s New York-based group that was best known for its song "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life". Career The group was led by its songwriter-musician Michael Cleveland, and it was known for employing a strong disco-esque bass line and early hip hop lyrics backed by two female singers: Réjane Magloire and Rose Marie Ramsey. "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life" was released on Sound of New York/Becket Records in 1982 and peaked in early 1983, reaching the top 10 on the US R&B and No. 2 on the US Club charts as well as the Top 3 in the Dutch Top 40 and the Top 15 in the UK, and was certified for gold-level sales in France. Korg MS-20
The Korg MS-20 is a patchable semi-modular monophonic analog synthesizer which Korg released in 1978 and which was in production until 1983. It was part of Korg's MS series of instruments, which also included the single oscillator MS-10, the keyboardless MS-50 module, the SQ-10 sequencer, and the VC-10 Vocoder. Additional devices included the MS-01 Foot Controller, MS-02 Interface, MS-03 Signal Processor, and MS-04 Modulation Pedal. Although the MS-20 follows a conventional subtractive synthesis architecture of oscillators/filter/vca, its patch panel allows some rerouting of both audio and modulation, and it includes an external signal processor.
