Ana Khouri
Ana Khouri (born March 5, 1981) is a New York-based jewellery designer. Khouri works with ethically and responsibly sourced gemstones, 18K Fairmined and Fairtrade gold or platinum. She was one of the early adopters of the ear cuff trend and has also experimented with earrings which extend up and into the ear. Rather than release seasonal collections, Khouri focuses on limited editions. Early life and education Ana Khouri was born in 1981 in São Paulo, Brazil and grew up in Londrina. Her father is an engineer. She studied sculpture at art school and holds a degree in Fine Arts from FAAP. Khouri studied Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America and also studied at Parsons School of Design in New York. Additionally, Khouri completed a course in jewelry design from London's Central Saint Martins, and has studied under Hermès. Campaign Zero
Campaign Zero is an American police reform campaign launched on August 21, 2015. The plan consists of ten proposals, all of which are aimed at reducing police violence. The campaign's planning team includes Brittany Packnett, Samuel Sinyangwe, DeRay Mckesson, and Johnetta Elzie. The activists who produced the proposals did so in response to critics who asked them to make specific policy proposals. Subsequent critics of Campaign Zero and of their 8 Can't Wait project point out that some of the policies it recommends are already in place as best practice policies at many police departments. Some of these include the Milwaukee policing survey and the PRIDE act. Hetrick-Martin Institute
The Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) is a New York City-based non-profit organization devoted to serving the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) youth between the ages of 13 and 24, and their families. It was founded in 1979 by Dr. Emery Hetrick and Dr. Damien Martin as the Institute for the Protection of Lesbian and Gay Youth as a response to the needs of vulnerable and at risk LGBT youth in New York City. Following a private donation in 1983, matched by a grant from the New York State Division for Youth they were able to open an office at East 23rd Street, provide a drop-in centre and significantly expand their provision of LGBT youth counseling.
