Ana Elisa Villanueva
Ana Elisa Aurora Villanueva Callot (July 28, 1930 – April 5, 1998) was a Dominican politician and children's advocate. She served as First Lady of the Dominican Republic from July 4, 1982, to August 16, 1982, during the brief 43-day presidency of her husband, Jacobo Majluta. Villanueva was also the vice president of the Independent Revolutionary Party (PRI). Biography Villanueva was born on July 28, 1930, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, to an elite family. Her parents were Fernando Villanueva Astol and Consuelo Callot Guridi. Through her mother, Villanueva was distantly related to Cuban poet Dulce María Loynaz. She was raised in Puerto Plata. Villanueva married Jacobo Majluta on April 17, 1962, in a Puerto Plata civil ceremony. The couple had one daughter. Joaquín Balaguer
Joaquín Antonio Balaguer Ricardo (1 September 1906 – 14 July 2002) was a Dominican politician, scholar, writer, and lawyer. He was President of the Dominican Republic serving three non-consecutive terms for that office from 1960 to 1962, 1966 to 1978, and 1986 to 1996. His enigmatic, secretive personality was inherited from the Trujillo era, as well as his desire to perpetuate himself in power through dubious elections and state terrorism, and he was considered to be a ''caudillo''. His regime of terror claimed 11,000 victims who were either tortured or forcibly disappeared and killed. Salvador Jorge Blanco
José Salvador Omar Jorge Blanco (July 5, 1926 – December 26, 2010) was a politician, lawyer and a writer. He was President of the Dominican Republic, from 1982 to 1986. He was a Senator running for the PRD party. He started his political career as a Committee Secretary for the ''Unión Cívica de Santiago'' in 1963 and joined the PRD in 1964. Antonio Guzmán Fernández
Silvestre Antonio Guzmán Fernández (February 12, 1911 – July 4, 1982), best known as Antonio Guzmán, was a Dominican businessman and a politician. He was President of the Dominican Republic, from 1978 to 1982. Early life Antonio Guzmán was born in the town of La Vega. He studied in the primary and secondary schools of La Vega. He worked in the fruit exportation business and soon became a wealthy rancher as well. An early member of Juan Bosch’s Dominican Revolutionary Party, he served as secretary of agriculture in Bosch's brief 1963 administration. In May 1966 he was the vice-presidential candidate for the PRD, with Bosch as the candidate for president. The elections were won, however, by Joaquín Balaguer.
