Amédée de Jallais (17 December 1826 – 31 January 1909) was a 19th-century French playwright, operetta librettist and chansonnier. Biography The son of a lieutenant colonel in the guards, he studied at the College Bourbon then entered in the insurance company La Nationale (1845–1850) as employee, a position he will leave to devote himself entirely to literature after the success of his comedy ''Un de perdu, une de retrouvée''. Collaborator of the ''Gazette des théâtres'', then of the ''Messager des théâtres'', he became managing director of the Théâtre des Délassements-Comiques (1871) then after the blaze of this theatre on 22 May 1871, of the Théâtre des Menus-Plaisirs. Saint-Germain-en-Laye () is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France in north-central France. It is located in the western suburbs of Paris, from the centre of Paris. Léon Beauvallet, full name Pierre-Léon-Charles Beauvallet, (22 August 1828 – 22 March 1885) was a 19th-century French actor, playwright and novelist. Charles Gabet
Émile Étienne ''Charles'' Gabet (16 May 1821 in Paris – 15 January 1903) was a 19th-century French playwright and librettist. Biography Gabet was the son of the painter Charles Gabet and his wife Françoise Ursine Eugénie Viquesnel. He led parallel careers as a commissaire de police and a dramatist. He was commissaire de police of the Porte-Saint-Martin quartier (that of théâtres of the boulevards Saint-Martin and Strasbourg). As a playwright and librettist, he worked with several major authors of his time: Alexandre Dumas, Clairville and Adolphe d'Ennery. He also parodied Victor Hugo with a malicious ''Ruy-Black'', lampooning ''Ruy Blas''. He died at the age of 81 in 1903 in his home at 89 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Martin in Paris. Pochade
A pochade (from French ''poche'', pocket) is a type of sketch used in painting. As opposed to a croquis, which is line art, a pochade captures the colors and atmosphere of a scene. Generally, pochades use a small, portable format.
