Amy Freeman Lee
Amy Freeman Lee (October 3, 1914 – July 20, 2004) was an American artist, writer and lecturer. She was inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame in 1984. Biography The daughter of Julia Freeman and Joe Novich, she was born in San Antonio and, after her mother died in 1918, was legally adopted and raised by her grandmother Emma Freeman in Seguin. She attended Saint Mary's Hall boarding school and went on to further studies at the University of Texas at Austin and Incarnate Word College. Lee served as president of the board of trustees of the University of the Incarnate Word from 1973 to 1990. From 1976 to 2004, she was chairman of the board of Wilhelm Schole International. Between 1948 and 1992, she gave nearly 2500 lectures to various organizations. She was a founder of the San Antonio Symphony and of the San Antonio Art League. Texas Women's Hall Of Fame
The Texas Women's Hall of Fame was established in 1984 by the Governor's Commission on Women. The honorees are selected biennially from submissions from the public. The honorees must be either native Texans, or a resident of Texas at the time of the nomination. KONO (AM)
KONO (860 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in San Antonio, Texas. Owned by Cox Radio, it airs an oldies radio format focused on 1960s and 1970s hits. KONO's studios are located in Northwest San Antonio near the South Texas Medical Center complex. The transmitter site with two towers is located on Creekview Drive, near the Salado Creek Greenway and Interstate 35. KONO broadcasts with 5,000 watts, with a non-directional signal by day. Because AM 860 is a clear channel frequency reserved for CJBC in Toronto, KONO reduces power at night to 900 watts, using a directional antenna, to avoid interfering with other stations. International Women's Forum
The International Women's Forum (IWF), founded in 1974 as the Women's Forum of New York, is an invitation-only women's organization with some 7,000 members. Its mission is "to support the women leaders of today and tomorrow". The IWF hosts two conferences each year to address women's issues and it provides intensive leadership training programs for women.
