Alice Amsden
Alice Hoffenberg Amsden (June 27, 1943 – March 14, 2012) was a political economist and scholar of state-led economic development. For the last two decades of her career, she was the Barton L. Weller Professor of Political Economy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Amsden was known best for her work on the developmental state, which argued that state-led industrialization was a viable alternative to the market-oriented industrialization of North America and Europe. Her scholarship focused on the catch-up of late-industrializing economies, particularly the " Asian Tigers." Amsden found their growth was accomplished through government intervention that established price control and import substitution policies, promoted organizational learning, and arranged "reciprocal control mechanisms" between states and private firms. Elizabeth Amsden
Elizabeth Amsden (March 27, 1881, Boston – July 20, 1966, Sugar Hill, New Hampshire) was an American operatic soprano. She had an active international opera career during the early 20th century. Life and career Amsden was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but during her school days her family moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where she was educated at the Elmhurst School. In 1892, while still in her youth, she entered the International School for singers in Boston where she studied under William Whitney. She then attended and graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music. After completing her education in the United States, Amsden went to Paris where she remained for six years before relocating to London. While biograhical sources credited her professional opera debut at London's Royal Opera House in 1910, she had been active earlier than this on the London stage. Janet Amsden
Janet Amsden is a British actress who appeared in ''EastEnders'' as Margaret Wilson and was in ''Family Affairs'', playing Marie Taylor. She trained under Yat Malmgren at Drama Centre, and is one of the few practitioners currently working to share his methods. She is also an acting tutor and director, Ray Fearon being one of her students. She teaches and directs at ALRA. Since 2013 she has taught this method, Movement Psychology, at the Giles Foreman Centre for Acting in London, and also for GFCA in Paris and in New York.
