Amos Learned Farm
The Amos Learned Farm is a historic farmstead on New Hampshire Route 137 (Lower Jaffrey Road) in Dublin, New Hampshire. This -story wood frame Cape style house was built c. 1808 by Benjamin Learned, Jr., son of one of Dublin's early settlers, and is a well-preserved example of a period hill farmstead. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Description and history The Amos Learned Farm is located in a rural setting of eastern Dublin, on the west side of NH 137, about south of its junction with New Hampshire Route 101. It is a -story wood-frame structure, with a gabled roof, central chimney, and clapboarded exterior. Its main facade is oriented facing south, presenting a side gable to the street. Windows are placed irregularly, with a center entrance on the south facade. New Hampshire Route 137 (abbreviated NH 137) is a secondary north–south state highway in southern New Hampshire. The road runs between Jaffrey and Hancock. The southern terminus of NH 137 is at U.S. Route 202 and New Hampshire Route 124 in Jaffrey. In Jaffrey, NH 137 is named North Street. Dublin is a town in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2020 census. It is home to Dublin School and ''Yankee'' magazine. History In 1749, the Masonian proprietors granted the town as "Monadnock No. 3" (or North Monadnock) to Matthew Thornton and 39 others. The 40 grantees came mostly from middle and eastern parts of New Hampshire; none of them became settlers in the township. The deed of grant, which dated November 3, 1749, was given by Col. Joseph Blanchard of Dunstable. The French and Indian War thwarted permanent settlement until the 1760s, when Irishman Henry Strongman moved from Peterborough. New Hampshire Route 101 (NH 101) is a state-maintained highway in southern New Hampshire extending from Keene to Hampton Beach. It is the major east–west highway in the southern portion of the state. Learned Homestead
The Learned Homestead is a historic farmstead on Upper Jaffrey Road in Dublin, New Hampshire. Built about 1790, it is a well-preserved example of an early farmstead, and one of the few surviving in the town from the 18th century. It is also noticeable for its association with the locally prominent Learned family, and for the summer estate movement of the early 20th century.
