The unification of Italy ( it, Unità d'Italia ), also known as the ''Risorgimento'' (, ; ), was the 19th-century political and social movement that resulted in the consolidation of different states of the Italian Peninsula into a single state in 1861, the Kingdom of Italy. Emilio Cigoli
Emilio Cardi Cigoli (18 November 1909 – 7 November 1980) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Cigoli was born in Livorno to actress Giovanna Cigoli. His grandfather worked as a silent film actor. He began his career on stage at the age of 18 under the guidance of Alfredo De Sanctis and later did work for the EIAR. Cigoli appeared in more than 40 films and 20 television shows between 1935 and 1980, mostly in supporting roles. One of his major appearances was in the 1943 film ''The Children Are Watching Us'' as well as the 1950 film '' Sunday in August''. Between 1943 and 1945, he worked in Spain with several colleagues to star in two Spanish-Italian films. Cigoli found great success as a voice dubber, eventually doing voice work for over seven thousand films. Giovanni Barrella (30 November 1884 – 23 September 1967) was an Italian film actor, writer and painter. Biography Barrella was born in Milan. His father was a major in the Napoleonic Army. Barrella studied Fine Arts. He worked for Teatro Argentina in Rome and for the Compagnia Lombarda of Alberto Colantuoni. In 1931, he founded his own theatrical company with Paolo Bonecchio. He also published poetry and theatre plays. He died in Erba in 1967. Renato Cialente (2 February 1897 – 25 November 1943) was an Italian stage and film actor. He appeared in 40 films between 1920 and 1943. His younger sister Fausta Cialente (1898-1994) was a novelist, journalist and political activist. Life and career Born in Treviglio, Lombardy, Cialente began acting at his boarding school and made his professional debut with the stage company of Ermete Zacconi. After having known the Russian actress Tatyana Pavlova he was among the first Italian actors to adopt the Stanislavski's system, and in the 1920s he started being considered a highly regarded actor by renowned dramatists such as Luigi Pirandello and Pier Maria Rosso di San Secondo. In 1934 he formed a stage company with Elsa Merlini and gradually focused in the comedy genre.
