Amo Region Cricket Team
Amo Sharks ( ps, امو نهنګان ''Amō Nahangān''; prs, آمو نهنگان) or Amo Region is one of eight regional first-class cricket teams in Afghanistan. The regional side represents the following provinces in the north of Afghanistan: Balkh, Faryab, Jowzjan, Samangan, and Sar-i-Pul. The team is named after the Amo, a river in northern Afghanistan and Central Asia. Amo Region compete in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, which has had first-class status from 2017 onwards. In October 2017, they lost their opening fixture of the tournament, against Speen Ghar Region, by an innings and 46 runs. Mirwais Ashraf
Mirwais Ashraf Khan ( ps, ميرويس اشرف خان) (born June 30, 1988) is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler who plays for the Afghanistan national cricket team and Chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board since 6 November 2021. Career Ashraf made his One Day International (ODI) debut against the Netherlands at the VRA Cricket Ground on 30 August 2009. Ashraf also made his first-class cricket debut against the same opponents in Afghanistan's debut match in the Intercontinental Cup, where in the Netherlands' second innings he took four wickets for 24 runs to help set up an historic Afghan win by one wicket. In September 2019, he was the leading wicket-taker in the 2019 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, with 16 dismissals in six matches. Sar-e Pol Province
Sar-e Pol, also spelled Sari Pul (Dari/Pashto: ), is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the north of the country. It borders Ghor and Bamyan to the south, Samangan to the east, Balkh and Jowzjan to the north, and Faryab to the west. The province is divided into 7 districts and contains 896 villages. It has a population of about 632,000, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a tribal society. The province was created in 1988, with the support of northern Afghan politician Sayed Nasim Mihanparast. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. The 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament was a List A cricket competition that took place in Afghanistan from 10 to 19 August 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with List A status, following the announcements by the International Cricket Council The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the world governing body of cricket. List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. The Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament is a cricket tournament organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) that forms part of the Afghanistan domestic cricket season. Gordon James Parsons (born 17 October 1959) is an English-born first-class cricketer who played in England and South Africa. He was burly medium fast bowler and was a handy batsman who played most of his cricket for Leicestershire County Cricket Club, although he also appeared for Boland cricket team, Buckinghamshire, Griqualand West cricket team, Orange Free State cricket team, Orange Free State Country Districts and Warwickshire County Cricket Club during his first-class career which spanned from 1978 to 1997.
