Amnesia (nightclub)
Amnesia is one of several internationally renowned clubs in Ibiza. It opened in 1976; the venue was awarded Best Global Club in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 at the IDMA Awards in Miami. The club is located close to the village of San Rafael on the highway between Sant Antoni de Portmany and Ibiza Town. DJ Mix
A DJ mix or DJ mixset is a sequence of musical tracks typically mixed together to appear as one continuous track. DJ mixes are usually performed using a DJ mixer and multiple sounds sources, such as turntables, CD players, digital audio players or computer sound cards, sometimes with the addition of samplers and effects units, although it is possible to create one using sound editing software. DJ mixing is significantly different from live sound mixing. Remix services were offered beginning in the late 1970s in order to provide music which was more easily beatmixed by DJs for the dancefloor. Privilege Ibiza
Privilege Ibiza, originally known as Ku Club (1979–95), is the "world's largest nightclub"according to the Guinness Book of Records, also defined as a superclub with a capacity of 10,000 people and encompassing 6,500 m² (69,940 ft²). It is located close to the village of Sant Rafael de Sa Creu (Eivissa), Spain less than from the nightclub Amnesia. History The history of Privilege began in the early 1970s when it started out as a restaurant, then expanded to include a bar and a community swimming pool. It was then known as Club San Rafael. Sven Väth
Sven Väth (born 26 October 1964) is a German DJ and electronic music producer. He is a three-time DJ Awards winner, and his career in electronic music spans over 30 years. The single "Electrica Salsa" with OFF launched his career in 1986. Referred to as "Papa Sven" by his fans, Sven Väth has made his mark in the music community by being one of Germany's pop stars in the nineties, running two night clubs in Germany, and starting his own company Cocoon, which encompasses a booking agency, record label, and a branch for events. He is recognized for cultivating the underground electronic music scene not just in Germany but in Ibiza as well, with his own night at Amnesia for eighteen years and after-parties at creative locations around the island. Cream (nightclub)
Cream is a nightclub that originally began as a weekly house music night at the now-demolished Nation nightclub in Liverpool. It ran in this format from October 1992 to June 2002. Cream also hosts the dance music festival Creamfields every August in Daresbury, Cheshire. Creamfields has won the award for Best Dance Event at the UK Festival Awards a record six times since the awards began 10 years ago, most recently in December 2014. In 2010, they also won the Music Week award for "Festival of the Year". In 2012, Live Nation acquired the Cream brand. Cream's home in Wolstenholme Square, Liverpool was demolished in 2016 as part of an urban regeneration project. Go-go Dancer
Go-go dancers are dancers who are employed to entertain crowds at nightclubs or other venues where music is played. Go-go dancing originated in the early 1960s at the French bar Whisky a Gogo located in Juan-les-Pins. The bar's name was taken from the French title of the Scottish comedy film '' Whisky Galore!'', which was titled ''Tight Little Island'' in the United States. The French bar then licensed its name to the very popular West Hollywood rock club Whisky a Go Go, which opened in January 1964 and chose the name to reflect the already popular craze of go-go dancing. Many 1960s-era clubgoers wore miniskirts and knee-high, high-heeled boots, which eventually came to be called go-go boots.
