Ammanford Association Football Club is a football club from Ammanford, Carmarthenshire in Wales. They play in the Cymru South. They are now based at the Recreation Ground in Ammanford. The club is affiliated to the Football Association of Wales (FAW), West Wales Football Association (WWFA), Welsh Football League and the Carmarthenshire Association Football League. History Football was played in the Ammanford and Betws parish in the 1920s by Ammanford Thursdays (who only played when the shops closed on Thursday afternoons). In the 1930s Ammanford Corinthians played on Betws Park. Betws Blackbirds football team was founded circa 1946, later joining the Carmarthenshire League. The club were elected to the Welsh league and in 1952 reached the final of the West Wales Amateur Cup. In the 1958–59 season they won promotion to the first division. Ammanford
Ammanford ( cy, Rhydaman) is a town and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, with a population of 5,411 at the 2011 census. It is a former coal mining town. The built-up area had a population of 7,945 with the wider urban area even bigger. According to the 2001 census, 75.88% of the population were competent in the Welsh language, compared to roughly 61% in Carmarthenshire as a whole and 21.8% in Wales as a whole. Carmarthenshire ( cy, Sir Gaerfyrddin; or informally ') is a county in the south-west of Wales. The three largest towns are Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford. The Cymru South is a regional football league in Wales, covering the southern half of the country. It has clubs with semi-professional status and together with the Cymru North, it forms the second tier of the Welsh football league system. The first year of its operation was in 2019–20 with the Football Association of Wales owning and administering the tier 2 leagues for the first time. The Welsh Football League (also known as the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh Football League for sponsorship reasons) was a club football league in Wales. For its final season in 2019–20 season it operated at levels 3 and 4 of the Welsh football league system. Level 3 – the Welsh Football League Division One and level 4 Welsh Football League Division Two. Betws ('' en, Chapel house'') is a small village and community on the River Amman, some 15 miles north of Swansea, Wales; it is part of the ecclesiastical parish of ''Betws and Ammanford'', and the urban area of Ammanford.
