Amjad Javed Saleemi
Amjad Javed Saleemi () is a retired Pakistani police officer who served as Inspector General of Sindh Police (IGSP) and Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGPP). He joined the Police Service of Pakistan in 1986 and belongs to the 14th Common Training Programme of the Civil Service. He belongs to an Arain family of Punjab. Career Saleemi served as IGSP until 6 September 2018 and was later appointed as IGPP and served on that post until 15 April 2019. He was a Grade 22 officer at the time of his latest removal from Police Service of Pakistan as IGPP. The Punjab Police ( Punjabi, Urdu: پنجاب پولیس) is a police force law and order agency responsible for law enforcement in the province of Punjab. It works under the command of Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police. It controls all criminal cases by taking action under the Police Act of 1861 and 2002 against criminals in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. The force was introduced in its modern form during British Rule and continues to suffer from colonial influence to the current date. Arain
Arain (also known as Raeen) are a large Punjabi agricultural tribe with strong political identity and organisation, found mainly in the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Sindh with a small population in parts of Indian Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Origins The historian and political scientist Christophe Jaffrelot believes that the Arain are displaced farming communities who moved to Punjab from Sindh and Multan as Arab Muslim armies encroached; they originally practised Hinduism but many later converted to Islam. He says that the community is related to the Kamboj Rajput community mainly located in northern India and eastern Pakistan. Grade 22
Grade 22 (also referred to as BPS-Apex) is the highest attainable rank for a Civil Servant in Pakistan. Grade 22 is equal to a 4-star rank of the Pakistan Armed Forces. With over five hundred thousand civil servants and bureaucrats in Pakistan, only a few dozen officers serve in BPS-22 grade at a given time. Hence, not even 0.008% of the country's civil servants and/or bureaucrats make it to the highest rank. Officers serving in BPS-22 grade are largely considered to be the most influential individuals in the country. Each officer who reaches Grade-22 has, on average, a civil service career spanning over 30 years to 32 years.
