Amichay Eliyahu
Amihai Ben-Eliyahu ( he, עמיחי בן אליהו, born 24 April 1979), commonly known as Amihai Eliyahu ( he, עמיחי אליהו), is an Israeli politician and activist who serves as Minister of Heritage since 2022. Eliyahu also briefly served as a member of Knesset for Otzma Yehudit following the 2022 Israeli legislative election. Biography Eliyahu is the son of Shmuel Eliyahu and the grandson of Mordechai Eliyahu, the former Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel. Political career Eliyahu was placed fourth on the Otzma Yehudit list in the 2022 Israeli legislative election, and became an MK. Jerusalem Affairs And Heritage Minister Of Israel
The Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage is an occasional portfolio in the cabinet of Israel, Israeli cabinet. It was first established under the twenty-fourth government of Israel, government of Yitzhak Shamir on 27 November 1990, with Avraham Verdiger serving as deputy minister, although Avner Shaki had served as a Minister without Portfolio responsible for Jerusalem Affairs since 1988. However, the post was scrapped by Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin (who was also the portfolio holder) on 31 December 1992. It was resurrected in 2001 in Ariel Sharon's Twenty-ninth government of Israel, government. In 2005 the role reverted to being the responsibility of a Minister without Portfolio. Otzma Yehudit
Otzma Yehudit ( he, עָצְמָה יְהוּדִית, , Jewish Strength', or 'Jewish Power) is a far-right political party in Israel, which has been referred to as Kahanist and anti-Arab. It was originally formed as Otzma LeYisrael (; lit., ''Strength for Israel''), which was established on 13 November 2012 by MKs Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari, who split from the National Union to form a new party ahead of the 2013 elections. Otzma Yehudit is the ideological descendant of the outlawed Kach party. The party advocates for the deportation of those who they consider to be the "enemies of Israel", and leader Itamar Ben-Gvir was associated with the original Kach movement, though he now disagrees with the stance of deporting all Arabs from Israel. The Knesset ( he, הַכְּנֶסֶת ; "gathering" or "assembly") is the unicameral legislature of Israel. As the supreme state body, the Knesset is sovereign and thus has complete control of the entirety of the Israeli government (with the exception of checks and balances from the courts and local governments). The Knesset passes all laws, elects the president and prime minister (although the latter is ceremonially appointed by the President), approves the cabinet, and supervises the work of the government, among other things. 2022 Israeli Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Israel on 1 November 2022 to elect the 120 members of the 25th Knesset. The results saw the right-wing national camp of former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu achieving a parliamentary majority, amid losses for left-wing and Arab parties, as well as far-right gains. Shmuel Eliyahu ( he, שמואל אליהו; born 29 November 1956) is an Israeli Orthodox rabbi. He is the Chief Rabbi of Safed and a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council. Some of Eliyahu's statements regarding Arabs and Palestinians have been construed as being discriminatory in nature. On 30 May 2022, the US State Department in the Biden administration revoked Eliyahu's visa to enter the United States. Early life Shmuel Eliyahu was born to Mordechai Eliyahu, the former Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, and his wife Tzviya.
