American University of Sharjah (abbreviated AUS; ar, الجامعة الأمريكية في الشارقة) is a private university in the United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 1997 by Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Located in University City in Sharjah, AUS has more than 5,000 students from more than 94 countries and a full-time faculty of more than 360 from 48 countries. AUS offers 26 majors and 48 minors at undergraduate level as well as 16 master's degrees and a PhD in Engineering Systems Management. The university is organized into three colleges and one school. Adib Fahim
Adib Fahim is the former deputy director general of Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security. His father, Marshal Mohammad Fahim, was the first vice president of Afghanistan. Following the death of his father in March 2014, Adib was appointed as his father's successor in the social arena at a ceremony organized by then president Karzai in Afghanistan's Presidential Palace. Fadel Al Mheiri is an Emirati filmmaker. He graduated from the American University of Sharjah. Al Mheiri began making films at age 14. He has made six short films since 2001. In 2005, Al Mheiri produced the documentary ''Under Construction'', which was about a construction worker waiting to be paid. He wrote the drama ''A Corsair's Tale'' in 2007.
