American Specialties
''American Specialties'' is the debut studio album by American indie rock band Parquet Courts, initially released in 2011 as a limited edition cassette on Cut the Cord That... Records. A vinyl version of the album was subsequently released on Pinball! Records in 2012. The album was partly mixed by Woods multi-instrumentalist Jarvis Taveniere. Recording In 2016, vocalist and guitarist Andrew Savage noted that the album stands mostly alone within the band's discography, in terms of its songwriting and overall aesthetic: "There’s a lot of stuff on ''American Specialties'' that didn’t really get revisited in the band, although its essence has informed everything the band has done." Parquet Courts
Parquet Courts is an American rock band from New York City. The band consists of Andrew Savage (vocals, guitar), Austin Brown (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Sean Yeaton (bass, vocals), and Max Savage (drums). History Band members Andrew Savage and Austin Brown met in Denton, Texas while both students at the University of North Texas, in a student club named Knights of the Round Turntable, where they listened to and shared new records. Andrew had a number of musical projects during college, including Teenage Cool Kids and Fergus & Geronimo. Andrew and brother Max Savage, Parquet Courts' drummer, were both born and raised in Denton. The three relocated to Brooklyn after college and soon started Parquet Courts. The band released their debut album, '' American Specialties'', as an independent, limited cassette release in 2011. The Compact Cassette or Musicassette (MC), also commonly called the tape cassette, cassette tape, audio cassette, or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. Woods (band)
Woods is an American folk rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2005. The band consists of Jeremy Earl (vocals, guitar), Jarvis Taveniere (various instruments, production), Aaron Neveu (drums), Chuck Van Dyck (bass), and Kyle Forester (keyboards, sax). The band's former bassist, Kevin Morby, left the band in 2013. Woods have released 11 albums, the latest being ''Strange to Explain''. Pitchfork Media reviewed one of their previous albums, '' Songs of Shame'', giving the band its "Best New Music" designation and describing the sound as "a distinctive blend of spooky campfire folk, lo-fi rock, homemade tape collages, and other noisy interludes, all anchored by deceptively sturdy melodies."
