American Society Of Cinematographers Awards
The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), founded in Hollywood in 1919, is a cultural, educational, and professional organization that is neither a labor union nor a guild. The society was organized to advance the science and art of cinematography and gather a wide range of cinematographers to discuss techniques and ideas and to advocate for motion pictures as a type of art form. Currently, the president of the ASC is Stephen Lighthill. Members use the post-nominal letters "ASC". On the 1920 film titled ''Sand'', cinematographer Joseph H. August, who was an original member of the ASC, became the first individual to have the "ASC" appear after his name on the onscreen credit. Only film cinematographers and special effect supervisors can become an ASC member. Guy Mervin Charles Green Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE British Society of Cinematographers, BSC (5 November 191315 September 2005) was an England, English film director, producer, screenwriter, and cinematographer. In 1948 in film, 1948, he won an Academy Awards, Oscar as cinematographer for the film ''Great Expectations (1946 film), Great Expectations''. In 2002, Green was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, BAFTA, and, in 2004, he was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his lifetime contributions to British cinema. Oswald Norman Morris, (22 November 1915 – 17 March 2014) was a British cinematographer. Known to his colleagues by the nicknames "Os" or "Ossie", Morris's career in cinematography spanned six decades. Life and career Morris was raised in Middlesex (now the London Borough of Hillingdon), and attended the Bishopshalt School. His interest in film began at an early age; during summer vacations, he would work as a projectionist at the local cinema.
