American Detective (magazine)
''American Detective'' was a police documentary television series broadcast by ABC in the United States from 1991 to 1993. ''American Detective'' features detectives in major U.S. urban areas working on high-profile criminal cases which were often drug-related. The program often allows glimpses into the personal lives of the detectives. During the latter part of the program's run, Lieutenant John Bunnell of the Multnomah County, Oregon Sheriff's Department, who had been featured in a number of the program's earlier shows, served in the role of host, even taking the viewers on a trip to Russia to look at his counterparts there in February 1993. American Detective was aired on ABC Television. It originally aired opposite NBC's '' Cheers'' and was later moved to Monday night, placed with ''Monday Night Football''. See also *Captain C. W. Paul Stojanovich
Paul John Stojanovich (February 13, 1956 – March 15, 2003) was an American television producer who created reality television police shows. His notable creations include '' Cops'' (1989–2009), '' American Detective'' (1991–1993) and ''World's Wildest Police Videos'' (1998–2001). Career His father, Chester Stojanovich, was an entomologist with a Doctorate from Stanford and his mother, Martha Stojanovich, was one of the first women to work at the Centers for Disease Control. Martha was diagnosed with schizophrenia shortly after he was born. As a teenager, Stojanovich became an avid photographer, saving his money to buy an expensive Hasselblad camera and getting his own darkroom in his father's barn in Campbell, California. He won the respect of Graham Nash, an avid photographer, at the age of 13 and began to collaborate with him. John Bunnell
John Edwin Bunnell (born May 25, 1944) is a former American sheriff of Multnomah County, Oregon. Bunnell is best known for presenting ''World's Wildest Police Videos'' between 1998 and 2001 and its revival briefly in 2012. Background Bunnell was born in Pendleton, Oregon. He obtained a degree in social sciences before joining the Multnomah County Sheriff's Department in January 1969. Bunnell managed the drugs and vice unit in the 1980s. Between 1989 and 1990, Multnomah County's Sheriff's Office was featured in 15 episodes of '' COPS'' and in 1991, 13 episodes of '' American Detective'', which he also hosted. He was appointed Sheriff of Multnomah County when the previous sheriff, Robert G. Skipper, retired in 1994 before the end of his term. Bunnell took the oath of office on November 30, 1994 and served until May 1995.
