America Song
''America Song'' is a live television series which aired on NBC during prime time, premiering on April 21, 1948, and ending on April 25, 1949. In its final four months, the program's title was ''American Songs''. Hosted by Paul Arnold, the program presented performances of United States folk music with Nellie Fisher (who also choreographed dances) and Ray Harrison as featured dancers. Each episode was 20 minutes long. ''America Song'' was produced by Fred Coe and directed by Ira Skutch. Its competition included ''Kiernan's Corner'' on ABC and newscasts on CBS and DuMont. Live television is a television production broadcast in real-time, as events happen, in the present. In a secondary meaning, it may refer to streaming television over the Internet when content or programming is played continuously (not on demand). For example, the Pluto TV app has two categories for viewing: "Live TV" & "On Demand." On its website, Xfinity states "Watch TV series and top rated movies live and on demand with Xfinity Stream." Frederick Hayden Hughs Coe (December 23, 1914 – April 29, 1979) was an American television producer and director most famous for '' The Goodyear Television Playhouse''/''The Philco Television Playhouse'' in 1948-1955 and ''Playhouse 90'' from 1957 to 1959. Ira Skutch (September 12, 1921 – March 16, 2010) was an American television director, producer, and, in his later years, an author. In the early days of television he produced and directed episodes of ''Kraft Television Theatre'' and ''The Philco Television Playhouse''.
