	Iraqi Premier League The Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز) is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA) and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraq Division One. The league was formed by the IFA in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs First Division, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq. The current format sees 20 teams playing 38 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away), totalling 380 matches in the season. Of the 80 teams to have competed since the inception of the league in 1974, eleven have won the title. Al-Zawraa are the most successful club with 14 titles, followed by Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Talaba and Al-Shorta, who together contest the Baghdad derbies. 	Al-Zawraa SC Managers Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records. Al-Zawraa also won the Iraqi Elite Cup a joint-record 3 times. Al-Zawraa have won the domestic double a record eight times and became only the second Iraqi team to win the domestic quadruple in the 1999–2000 season. The club's most recent trophy came in 2021 with a 1–0 win over rivals Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the Super Cup. 	1998–99 Iraqi Premier League The 1998–99 Iraqi Premier League was the 25th season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. The league title was won by Al-Zawraa for the eighth time in their history. Had Al-Talaba beaten Al-Naft on the last day of the season, they would have won the league title instead, but the match finished goalless and Al-Zawraa's 3–1 win over Al-Karkh saw them claim the trophy. 	1989–90 Iraqi National League The 1989–90 Iraqi National Clubs First Division was the 16th season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. The name of the league was changed from ''Iraqi Pan-National Clubs First Division'' back to ''Iraqi National Clubs First Division'' and it was organised by the Iraq Football Association (IFA).
