Amelia Velardo
Amelia Velardo (born 28 May 2002) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Carlton in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She has previously played for Collingwood. As a junior, Velardo initially played basketball for the Keilor Thunder in the Big V competition. She switched to football in 2020, citing her lack of passion for basketball after having played the sport for so long. Velardo began playing for her local team, Keilor, alongside friends, and later joined the Western Jets in the NAB League Girls. She only managed to play three matches before the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was still selected to trial at the Victorian AFLW draft combine. Despite her lack of football experience, Velardo was selected by Collingwood with pick 25 in the 2020 AFLW draft, the club's second selection. Western Jets
The Western Jets is an Australian rules football club which plays in the Victorian premier U19 competition, the NAB League, since its inception in 1992. The club have developmental squads in the U16, however much of the attention is towards its U18 team. The club is geographically set in Melbourne's West as part of a decision by AFL Victoria (formerly Football Victoria) to have clubs in all regions of the state. The club trains in Melbourne's inner west at Crofts Reserve in Altona North and plays NAB League matches at Burbank Oval in Williamstown. The 2021 AFL Women's season was the fifth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia. Lauren Brazzale (born 5 November 1993) is an Australian rules footballer playing for Collingwood in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW). She was drafted by Carlton with the club's eighth selection and the sixty second overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. Nathan Charles Buckley (born 26 July 1972) is a former professional Australian rules football coach, player and commentator. He is listed by journalist Mike Sheahan as one of the top 50 players of all time. Nicholas Maxwell (born 3 June 1983) is a former Australian rules football player and former captain of the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Nick Maxwell was born in Geelong to parents Sue and Doug and at age 10 moved to Wallington. He was educated at St. Joseph's College where he played his junior football.
