Ameeksha Dilchand
Ameeksha Dilchand; (born 26 October 1988) is a Mauritian Beauty Pageant winner and former Miss Mauritius. Ameeksha attended the Notre Dame de la Confiance RCA school for her primary education then joined the Loreto College of Rose-Hill for her secondary studies. Ameeksha completed her LLB(hons) from University College London (UCL). She was crowned Miss Mauritius in the year 2011. In October 2012, she became the second Mauritian woman to win an award for Mauritius, after Anaïs Veerapatren. She participated in Miss Universe 2012 at Las Vegas and at the Miss International 2012 where she finished 17th. Following her election as Miss Mauritius, Ameeksha has joined a NGO to be able to help kids who suffer from Cleft lip and palate as the Operation Smile Ambassador. She is also a member of the Lupus Alert, helping to raise awareness about the life-threatening disease, lupus. Curepipe
Curepipe () also known as ''La Ville-Lumière'' (The City of Light), is a town in Mauritius, located in the Plaines Wilhems District, the eastern part also lies in the Moka District. The town is administered by the Municipal Council of Curepipe. Curepipe lies at a higher elevation, often referred to as the "Central Plateau". According to the census made by Statistics Mauritius in 2018, the population of the town was at 78,618. Etymology The town's name, Curepipe, is said to be originated from the French ''curer sa pipe'', which translates to "cleaning his/her pipe". There are several theories by historians as to the naming of the city. Some historians believe that the name was given as travellers and soldiers from the 19th century often travelled from Port Louis and Grand Port (now Mahébourg) to refill their pipes in Curepipe. Laetitia Sauzier (née Darche, born 22 June 1991) is a Belgian born Mauritian model of Belgian and Mauritian descent. She was the winner of the Miss Mauritius 2010 beauty pageant. Early life Born in Uccle to Belgian father Michel and Mauritian mother Jacqueline, Darche spent her first three years of life in Mauritius. Her family then moved to Spain for ten years and to Belgium for the next five, where she would enjoy visiting her grandmother Rachelle in Jodoigne.
