AmbondronA (band)
AmbondronA is a pop rock from Madagascar. The band has figured prominently in the Malagasy music scene since 2001. AmbondronA has toured extensively throughout Madagascar, and has given numerous performances throughout the Indian Ocean Islands, France and South Africa. The band has released six albums. In 2012, the members of the band were selected by the United States Embassy in Antananarivo to participate in an International Visitors' Leadership Program on the theme of "Protecting the Environment through Music." Their nomination followed a collaboration with the U.S. Department of State in which AmbondronA filmed a music video at Ranomafana National Park and promoted environmental conservation and green tourism in Madagascar. As part of the International Visitors' Leadership Program, the band performed in several U.S. cities, including Denver, Colorado and Portland, Oregon. Antananarivo ( French: ''Tananarive'', ), also known by its colonial shorthand form Tana, is the capital and largest city of Madagascar. The administrative area of the city, known as Antananarivo-Renivohitra ("Antananarivo-Mother Hill" or "Antananarivo-Capital"), is the capital of Analamanga region. The city sits at above sea level in the center of the island, the highest national capital by elevation among the island countries. It has been the country's largest population center since at least the 18th century. Ranomafana National Park
Ranomafana National Park is in the southeastern part of Madagascar in Haute Matsiatra and Vatovavy. With more than 41,600 hectares (161 square miles) of tropical rainforest, it is home to several rare species of flora and fauna including the golden bamboo lemur, the greater bamboo lemur, black and white ruffed lemur and Milne-Edwards sifaka, and over 130 species of frogs. Bird species including ground rollers, blue vangas, short-legged ground rollers and brown mesites can be seen. The park was established in 1991 with the purpose of conserving the unique biodiversity of the local ecosystem and reducing the human pressures on the protected area. It is part of the World Heritage Site Rainforests of the Atsinanana.
