Wayne Ambler
Wayne Harper Ambler (November 8, 1915 – January 3, 1998) was an American professional baseball player whose career spanned six seasons, including three in Major League Baseball with the Philadelphia Athletics (1937–1939). Over his career in the majors, Ambler player second base and shortstop. He also played in the minor leagues. Ambler played for the Class-A Williamsport Grays (1939), the Double-A Jersey City Giants (1940) and the Double-A Indianapolis Indians (1941). Ambler made his major league debut on June 4, 1937, after never playing in the minors, a rare feat. During his major league career, Ambler compiled a batting average of .224 with 175 hits, 39 doubles, two triples, 73 runs batted in (RBIs) and four stolen bases in 271 games played. Stella Ambler (born September 29, 1966) is a Canadian politician who served as the Member of Parliament for the federal electoral district of Mississauga South from 2011 to 2015. She is a member of the Conservative Party. Background Ambler's parents are Italian immigrants who met and married in Canada, settling in Etobicoke then moving to Brampton. Richard Charles Ambler (August 31, 1853 – September 12, 1891) was an American politician. Ambler, the son of Charles and Mary (Curtiss) Ambler, of Nichol's Farms, in the township of Trumbull, Connecticut, was born on August 31, 1853. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1878. In the autumn after graduation he entered the law office of Seymour & Seymour, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he remained for two years. He then opened an office for himself in Bridgeport, and built up gradually a good business. Richard Penry Ambler (26 May 1933 – 27 December 2013) was an English molecular biologist who conducted groundbreaking research into the evolution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Ambler was the first scientist to publish an amino acid sequence of a bacterial protein, and had a long academic career at the University of Edinburgh. Early life and education Ambler was born on 26 May 1933 in Bexleyheath, London to Anne Evans, a civil servant, and Henry Ambler, a state-employed chemist. In 1940, the family moved to Pune, India, where Ambler's father conducted wartime explosives research.
