James Vincent
James Vincent (July 19, 1882 – July 12, 1957) was an American actor and film director of the silent film, silent era. He appeared in 23 films between 1910 and 1951, and directed 18 films from 1915 to 1931. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Vincent studied drama and oratory before he became a leading man in stock theater productions. On Broadway, Vincent appeared in ''The Ragged Earl'' (1899), ''The Last of the Rohans'' (1899), ''From Broadway to the Bowery'' (1907), ''The Man Who Stood Still'' (1908), ''The Letter'' (1927), ''Insult'' (1930), ''Criminal at Large'' (1932), and ''Alien Corn'' (1933). He was stage manager for the Broadway plays ''The Age of Innocence'' (1928), ''Lucrece'' (1932), and ''Alien Corn'' (1933). Film companies for which Vincent directed included Kalem, Sterling, Cort, and Pathe. He was president of the Motion Picture Directors Association in 1920. Dorothy Phillips
Dorothy Phillips (born Dorothy Gwendolyn Strible, October 30, 1889 – March 1, 1980) was an American stage and film actress. She is known for her emotional performances in melodramas, having played a number of "brow beaten" women on screen, but had a pleasant demeanor off. She garnered little press for anything outside of her work. Career Born Dorothy Gwendolyn Strible in Baltimore, Phillips was educated at the College of Expression of Maryland and once graduated acted with the George Fawcett Stock Co. Phillips began her career as a stage actress for Colonel Savage Productions acting in New York and Chicago. She made her film debut in 1911 on a two-reeler called ''The Rosary'', and appeared in over 150 films during her career. For a time, she was nicknamed Kid Nazimova for her ability to imitate the Russian Hollywood actress Alla Nazimova. Phillips started at Universal Pictures often starring with Lon Chaney. 1937 Fox Vault Fire
The 1937 Fox vault fire was a major fire that broke out in a 20th Century-Fox film-storage facility in Little Ferry, New Jersey, United States, on July 9, 1937. Flammable nitrate film had previously contributed to several fires in film-industry laboratories, studios, and vaults, although the precise causes were often unknown. In Little Ferry, gases produced by decaying film, combined with high temperatures and inadequate ventilation, resulted in spontaneous combustion. One death and two injuries resulted from the fire, which also destroyed all the archived film in the vaults, resulting in the loss of most of the silent films produced by the Fox Film Corporation before 1932. Also destroyed were negatives from Educational Pictures to Belarusfilm (with which Fox was then affiliated) and films of several other studios. Kittens Reichert
Kittens Reichert (March 3, 1910 – January 11, 1990) was an American child actress in silent films. Biography The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Reichert, she was born Catherine Alma Reichert in Yonkers, New York, but was nicknamed "Kittens", which she adopted as her stage name. When she was 2 years old, Reichert was a stand-in for a film that was being made in Yonkers. Beginning in 1914, she played supporting juvenile roles to many of filmdom's biggest stars, including Theda Bara, Pauline Frederick and William Farnum. Her career effectively ended when she was 9 in 1919 because her family did not want to move out to California, where the film industry had shifted, though she did make a further appearance in ''So's Your Old Man'' (1926), starring W. C. Fields. In 1927, Reichert portrayed Hope Toombs in a Fiske O'Hara Players production of ''The Circus Girl'' at the New Warburton Theatre in Yonkers.
