Amateur Speedskating Union
This is a list of federations that are members of International Skating Union (ISU). As of 16 July 2018, there are 93 member federations. In many countries, figure skating and speed skating are governed by different federations, but both can be members of the ISU; the national federations are ISU members for figure skating, for speed skating or for both. Some of these national federations also govern other sports in their countries, but are not ISU members in that capacity. International Skating Union
The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. The ISU was formed to establish standardized international rules and regulations for the skating disciplines it governs, and to organize international competitions in these disciplines. The German Ice Skating Union (german: Deutsche Eislauf-Union, DEU) is the national amateur association for figure skating and ice dancing in Germany. The various German ice sports associations constitute the membership of the DEU; individuals cannot become members. The Deutsche Eislauf-Union was formed in June 1964 in Hamburg to promote professional ice skating in its many forms, to recognize achievements in figure skating and ice dancing, and to provide educational opportunities for ice skating professionals. The DEU holds championships and other competitions in Germany. It has training programs not only for athletes, but also for coaches, competition judges, and others in the ice skating industry. British Ice Skating (formerly the National Ice Skating Association) is the national governing body of ice skating within the United Kingdom. Formed in 1879, it is responsible for overseeing all disciplines of ice skating: figure skating (singles, pairs and ice dance); synchronised skating; and speed skating (including short track). Finnish Figure Skating Association
The Finnish Figure Skating Association (FFSA) ( fi, Suomen Taitoluisteluliitto, ''STLL'') is the national association for figure skating in Finland. The FFS has its origins in the Finnish Skating Association (''Suomen Luisteluliitto'') which was formed in 1908 as an umbrella association for both figure and speed skaters. In 1960, Suomen Kaunoluisteluliitto (''Finnish Beauty Skating Association'') was formed for figure skating disciplines and it changed its name in 1968 to the present to reflect the change in terminology – figure skating (''taitoluistelu'') was formerly known in Finnish as ''kaunoluistelu''.
