Amar Singh College
Amar Singh College (Urdu: , Kashmiri: ) is an academic & professional college in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is the second oldest college in the Kashmir Valley after Sri Pratap College. History It was established in November 1913 as Amar Singh Technical Institute, to teach willing students art, culture, and basics like masonry and carpentry. It was formally opened on 29 May 1914 by Maharaja Pratap Singh. In June 1942, the Technical Institute was converted into Amar Singh College through bifurcation of Sri Pratap College commemorating the name of the father of Hari Singh, the then Maharaja of Kashmir. The College was recognized by University Grants Commission of India (UGC) in June 1972. The College is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council AACwith B++ Grade. Srinagar (English: , ) is the largest city and the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Shahnaz Bashir is a Kashmiri novelist and academic from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Education and work Shahnaz Bashir is a doctoral fellow and teaching associate in Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). He teaches "Writing As Communication" and "Public Speaking", and has been awarded a commendation for “excellent pedagogy” by the Directorate of Graduate Programs at the Department of Communication at UMass. Earlier in 2022, he was a finalist for Distinguished Teaching Award in the Grad Teaching Associate category at the university. He was also awarded the Research Enhancement and Leadership (REAL) Fellowship by UMass. Kacho Sikander Khan Sikander (1917-2007) was an eminent Indian writer from Kargil District of Ladakh. His work ''Qadeem Ladakh - Tarikh-o-Tamaddun'' is a major study of the history of Ladakh from the time people settled in the region up to the post-independent era. Early life Sikander Khan belonged to the ''Gasho'' family of Chiktan. Born in 1917 he was the eldest son of Kacho Isfindyar Khan. His mother belonged to the family of the Raja Haider Khan of Tambis. There were no schools in his village so at the age of nine he was admitted to a school in the Kargil town so that he could get modern education. His father made him stay with a simple household, the ''Abaa pa'' of the Aba Grong, a small locality in the vicinity of Kargil town. Keshav Malik (5 November, 1924 – 11 June, 2014) was an Indian poet, art and literary critic, arts scholar, and curator. He remained art critic for the ''Hindustan Times'' (1960–1972) and ''The Times of India'' (1975–2000). He published eighteen volumes of poetry and edited six anthologies of English translations of Indian poetry. He was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India, for his contribution to literature. Chewang Norphel
Chewang Norphel ཚེ་དབང་ནོར་འཕེལ། (born 1935) is an Indian civil engineer from Ladakh, who has built 15 artificial glaciers. He has earned the nickname ''Ice Man''. Early life and career Coming from a middle-class family of Leh, Norphel went to Amar Singh College in Srinagar as a student of science. He completed a diploma course in civil engineering from Lucknow in 1960. In June 1960, he joined the rural development department of Jammu and Kashmir in Ladakh as a civil engineer. Mehrajuddin Wadoo
Mehrajuddin Wadoo (born 12 February 1984) is an Indian professional manager and former footballer. He is the current head coach of I-League club Mohammedan. During his playing days, Wadoo played for clubs such as Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Salgaocar, Pune City, Chennaiyin, and Mumbai City. He also represented the India national team from 2005 to 2011.
