Amanda Brown (tennis)
Amanda Brown (born 2 May 1965) is a former professional British tennis player who reached the second round of Wimbledon (on two occasions) and the Australian Open, as well as competing for Great Britain at the 1984 Olympics and the 1984 Federation Cup. As a junior, she twice won the junior title at the Australian Open, in 1982 and 1983. She played her first matches on the WTA tour in November 1982 and her final matches at Wimbledon in 1986. During her career, Brown successfully gained victories over players such as Sue Barker, Sara Gomer, Annabel Croft and Gigi Fernández Beatriz "Gigi" Fernández (born February 22, 1964) is a Puerto Rican former professional tennis player. Great Britain Fed Cup Team
The Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup team represents the United Kingdom in Fed Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Lawn Tennis Association. In 2020, they lost out on a chance to secure a place at the inaugural Billie Jean King Cup finals, losing to Slovakia 3-1. However, in 2021 they won their play-off against Mexico and will play for another chance to enter the finals in 2022. History Great Britain competed in the first Fed Cup in 1963. They have reached the finals on five occasions, 1967, 1971, 1972, 1981 and 2022. Great Britain is one of only four nations to have participated every year since the tournament's inception. Four-time defending champion Martina Navratilova defeated Hana Mandlíková in the final, 7–6(7–1), 6–3 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1986 Wimbledon Championships. It was her seventh Wimbledon singles title and 14th major singles title overall. Mandlíková was attempting to complete the career Grand Slam.
