Amanda Braun
Amanda Braun is the current director of athletics for the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She previously served as associate athletic director for the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay from 1999 to 2006, and as associate athletic director for Northeastern University from 2006 to 2013. Braun attended college at Siena College, where she played on the Siena Saints women's basketball team. She graduated from Siena College with a bachelor's degree in 1995, and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master's degree in 1999. Braun was named athletic director at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee on March 4, 2013. An athletic director (commonly "athletics director" or "AD") is an administrator at many American clubs or institutions, such as colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, who oversees the work of coaches and related staff involved in athletic programs. Position at institution Modern athletic directors are often in a precarious position, especially at the larger institutions. Although technically in charge of all of the coaches, they are often far less well-compensated and also less famous, with few having their own television and radio programs as many coaches now do. The Milwaukee Panthers are the athletic teams of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. A total of 13 Panthers athletic teams compete in NCAA Division I. The Panthers have won the James J. McCafferty Trophy as the Horizon League's all-sports champions six times since 2000. History UWM's athletic teams are nicknamed the Panthers.
