Amanda Annan is a British-American actress, model, writer and entrepreneur known for starring in ''Rag Tag'' (2006) and Dolly Unachukwu's ''The Empire'' (2005), and producing the documentaries ''Jambo Jumbo'' (2010) and ''Equation of Change'' (2010) with Richard Branson. Early life Amanda Annan was born in 1982 to a Ghanaian father and a Martinican mother. She was adopted as a child and raised in London. Her uncle is former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan. Amanda Annan attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art when she was 16. Her decision to become a model came as a surprise to her family, many of whom were politicians and diplomats. Career While studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she was scouted for a modelling agency and did her first modelling shoot for a Vidal Sassoon campaign. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA; ) is a drama school in London, England, that provides vocational conservatoire training for theatre, film, television, and radio. It is based in the Bloomsbury area of Central London, close to the Senate House complex of the University of London and is a founding member of the Federation of Drama Schools. It is one of the oldest drama schools in the United Kingdom, founded in 1904 by Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree. It moved to buildings on Gower Street in 1905. It was granted a Royal Charter in 1920 and a new theatre was built on Malet Street, behind the Gower Street buildings that was opened by Edward, Prince of Wales, in 1921. It received its first government subsidy in 1924. RADA currently has five theatres and a cinema. The school’s Principal Industry Partner is Warner Bros. Entertainment.
