Alén Space is a Spanish company in the NewSpace sector, located in Vigo ( Galicia, Spain). Alén Space designs, constructs, and develops software and hardware for artificial satellites. Since 2008, the company builds nanosatellites below CubeSat requirements. History Alén Space specializes in turnkey solutions for space business. Xatcobeo
Xatcobeo, originally known as ''Dieste'', is a project to build the first Galician artificial satellite developed by Agrupación Estratéxica Aeroespacial (currently Alén Space) of the University of Vigo and leadered by Fernando Aguado in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA) and with the support of the Galician government-owned corporation Retegal. The project was presented to the European Space Agency for its launch in the inaugural flight of the Vega rocket from the Guiana Space Centre, in Kourou (French Guiana). Its life will be between 6 and 12 months, and its cost will be around 1.2 million euros, being 50% funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Investigación of Spain, 25% by Retegal and in the last 25% jointly by the University of Vigo and INTA. Lume-1
The Lume-1 is a Spanish nanosatellite developed for educational and scientific purposes by the University of Vigo in cooperation with Alén Space, the University of Porto and the French National Centre of Scientific Research. The satellite is part of the Fire-RS program in order to battle wildfires. Mission Lume-1 is the spacial segment of the Fire-RS program. A program developed to create an autonomous network of satellites and UAV to detect and extinguish wildfires. In that network, Lume-1 has the task of receive alerts from sensors on the ground and transmit them to the ground segment at UVIGO GS. These alerts will coordinate UAVs send by ground control to locate and evaluate the fire. In addition, Lume-1 can also store and relay the information gathered by the UAVs to further coordinate the firefighting teams. South Summit
The South Summit is a subsidiary peak of Mount Everest in the Himalayas between the South Col (at ) and the main summit (at ) above sea level. Although the South Summit's elevation of is higher than the second-highest mountain on Earth ( K2), it is not considered a separate mountain as its topographic prominence is only 11 meters.
